Move your company records
A company keeps its registers and records at its registered office unless it has an inspection address (a SAIL) on the register. Form AD03 tells Companies House which records are now kept at the SAIL, and form AD04 which have moved back to the registered office. Tell Companies House within 14 days of the move. There is no government fee.

Questions directors ask
Which records can move?
The register of members, directors’ service contracts and indemnities, records of resolutions and meetings, the register of debenture holders, copies of the instruments creating charges, and the documents about the company buying back its own shares.
What about the registers of directors and people with significant control?
Companies House’s electronic form doesn’t list them, so Fileyear can’t move them. Use Companies House’s own service for those.
How do I stop using the inspection address?
Choose back to the registered office and tick every record kept at the inspection address. Companies House confirmed (5 November 2026) that this is how a company stops using its inspection address: move its records back to the registered office with form AD04. To use a different inspection address instead, file the new one (form AD02).
