1. Enter your company
Search for the company by name or number. Fileyear reads its record at Companies House: when its accounts and confirmation statement are due, what was filed last, its directors and its shareholders. What is due is already ticked, and you can add anything else, such as a change of address.
Start with your company
Search the Companies House register. Your company page shows every date that applies to it, and what to file next.
2. Add the bank statement
For accounts and a Company Tax Return, the company’s bank statement is the one thing Fileyear asks for. Download it from online banking and upload it (CSV, Excel, OFX or QIF), or connect Xero or QuickBooks instead. Fileyear sorts every transaction into a category, reads last year’s figures from the accounts at Companies House, and drafts this year’s accounts and tax return. Filings that need no figures, like a change of director, skip this step.
3. Check it
Every part Fileyear prepared is marked as prepared, and you confirm each one: the categories, last year’s figures, the year-end answers, the register. Change anything, and Fileyear works it out again. The step that says “Check everything” shows the whole filing before you pay.
4. Pay, then submit
You pay for that filing, and only that filing. Then you submit, with the company’s authentication code (and, for HMRC, its Government Gateway login). Those details are used for that one submission and never stored.
5. Track it
The filing’s page updates by itself while Companies House and HMRC decide, and we email you when they do. Every filing has a reference like FY-7K3M-9Q2X, on its receipt and in our emails: Track shows where it is from any device. The receipts and filed copies stay on the filing’s page.
Next year
Autopilot prepares the company’s next filings from its bank and Companies House as each one becomes due, and asks you to check and approve each before it is sent. It renews only if you choose.
