Accessibility statement
Our aim
Fileyear is designed to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA. That aim is built into the design system from the start: visible focus rings on every interactive element, a skip-to-content link, proper landmarks and heading structure, aria-live regions for progress and status changes, touch targets of at least 24px (48px for primary actions), layouts that work from 360px wide with no horizontal scrolling, and colour contrast chosen to meet AA (muted text at 5.6:1 or better). Motion is kept short and purposeful, and is removed entirely for anyone with prefers-reduced-motion set.
What has been tested
In October 2026 we ran automated accessibility checks (axe-core, against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rules) on the public pages: the home page, the filing guides, pricing, company pages, the site map and these legal pages, on a phone-sized and a desktop-sized screen. They found no serious or critical problems. Keyboard order and the visible focus ring were also checked by hand.
The same checks ran on every screen of a complete filing, from uploading a bank statement through to paying, submitting and the confirmation page, on a phone-sized and a desktop-sized screen, and found no serious or critical problems.
Known issues
This is an honest list, not a clean bill of health.
- The checks on the filing screens covered one kind of filing (company accounts and tax return). The screens for other filings, such as the confirmation statement and the director’s Self Assessment, haven’t had the same checks yet.
- We haven’t yet done a full test with a screen reader across the whole site.
- Menus such as the company switcher in the header haven’t been checked with a screen reader.
- Documents we generate for you (invoices, receipts and copies of your filings) are simple printable pages and haven’t been checked to the same standard as the site.
Reporting a problem
If you find anything on Fileyear that you can’t use because of a disability, please tell us. See complaints and contact. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened; we’ll aim to respond within 5 working days.
Enforcement
If you’re not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), or, in the case of a public sector body, the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Fileyear is a private company, so strictly only the general Equality Act 2010 duty applies to us, not the public-sector accessibility regulations, but we hold ourselves to the same WCAG 2.2 AA standard regardless.
