How Fileyear contacts you

  • Email only, to the address you gave us, about your own filings, your account and reminders you asked for.
  • Links go to fileyear.co.uk. A sign-in link or code works once, for 10 minutes. We never put a sign-in form in an email.
  • We never ask for your logins. You type the company’s authentication code and its HMRC login only on Fileyear’s own submit step, when you file. We never ask for them by email, text or phone.
  • We never ask you to pay by email. You pay on Fileyear’s own payment step, by card through Stripe. We never send bank details to pay into.
  • No phone calls. Fileyear has no phone line and never calls or texts you.

Fake HMRC and Companies House messages

Scammers pretend to be HMRC and Companies House, often around filing deadlines, promising a tax refund or threatening a penalty. Be wary of any message that asks for personal or financial details, or for a payment, by a link.

  • HMRC: forward a suspicious email to phishing@hmrc.gov.uk and then delete it, and forward a suspicious text to 60599. HMRC has an online service for reporting a suspicious phone call1.
  • Any other scam email: forward it to report@phishing.gov.uk, and a scam text to 77262.
  • Your authentication code: Companies House posts it to the registered office and it can’t be sent by email or given over the phone. Treat it like a bank card PIN, and change it if someone you no longer trust knows it3.

A message that claims to be from Fileyear

If you aren’t sure an email is ours, don’t use its links. Go to fileyear.co.uk yourself, or Track the filing by its reference, and contact us to check.
