Built for companies that sell goods

Most online sellers’ accounts go wrong in one place: stock. Everything the company bought in the year looks like a cost, but the goods still on the shelf at the year end belong to next year. Fileyear asks about stock when your company’s figures show it sells goods: payouts from Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy or TikTok Shop, stock bought from suppliers, or a retail or wholesale business activity.

Your stock, without the spreadsheet work

  • Upload what your platform gives you. Shopify’s inventory or product export, Amazon’s inventory ledger or Manage FBA Inventory report, TikTok Shop’s product export, eBay’s active listings report, or our simple template.
  • Costs where platforms don’t have them. Add a cost list, or type the total.
  • Valued the right way. At cost, or less for goods worth less, item by item, with first in, first out or average cost. See how to value stock.

The accounts and the tax, with stock in them

Closing stock goes on the balance sheet and comes off this year’s costs, so the profit and the Corporation Tax are right. Goods a director takes are counted as sold to them. Micro-entity accounts include stock in current assets. Before you pay, “Check everything” shows what stock did to the profit and the tax. Read more in stock and Corporation Tax.
